The URBENVIRON Association

The URBENVIRON International Association is a nongovernmental organization, with headquarters in Brasilia, that provides an open forum for anyone interested in knowledge building and networking on urban environmental planning and management. Our memberships are international and multidisciplinary, today gathering individuals and organizations of 44 countries in the commitment to promote sustainable development in the cities around the world.

The Association activities are guided by the principles of the Charta of Brasilia (2005), through four strategic initiatives:

Mission

The mission of URBENVIRON is to strengthen the capacities to promote urban environmental quality through protection of natural resources in alliance with the defence of social interests, in the perspective of sustainable development.

Recent News

In general assembly on September 17, 2011, the Urbenviron Association has elected its new Management Board for a 4-year-mandate 4 th Urbenviron International Congress focusing Green Cities: a Path to Sustainability takes place in Cairo, Egypt, on December 10-13 and will be followed by a complementary Workshop at El-Gouna, on the Red Sea Coast, from December 14 to 16. The Congress is organized by the Housing & Building National Research Center of Egypt (www.hbrc.edu.eg) and supported by UN-Habitat.
